Job Description


Installs, configures and manages mission critical applications and services.

Applies technical expertise using standard operating procedure and diagnostic tools to quickly resolve complex system problems.

Ensures uptime and availability of servers/services are within SLA/OLA.

Publishes existing and new infrastructure deployments using run book or similar tool.

Contributes to centralized problem identification and resolution database.

Handles daily operations and change management using Ticketing system.

Performs backup and recovery operations as and when required.

Manages installation of patches and upgrades.

Automates infrastructure monitoring (network device) using scripts.

Performs root cause and failure analysis of application & network outages.

Evaluates and conducts tests on various hardware diagnostic and monitoring tools.

Provides technical support & training to junior level Engineers.

Participates in 24x7 system support rotation and escalate issues to senior team members and vendors.

Interfaces with Engineering team on design of tools/utilities required for deploying application software.

Participates in technical calls on outages and assists with impact analysis report preparation.

Other Details:

Bachelor Degree in a Computer Science, Electronics or related field.

Technical certification (RHCE, RHCA, CCNA or CCNP) is mandatory.

Personal Profile:

Checklists Before Uploading Profiles:

4 years or more of Linux systems administration experience managing a high-volume, highly-available production Linux environment. (preferably Fedora Core distribution)

2 years of Linux Fedora Core administration experience.

Hands-on knowledge on configuring/troubleshooting Open-Source software like Apache, BIND, qmail, Post Fix, etc.

In-depth knowledge of network security concepts such as NAT, VPN and Firewalls.

Proficiency in high-level scripting language. (Bash, Perl or Python)

Experience with NMS tools. (like Nagios, Xenoss, Cacti, etc)

Experience with SNMP monitoring and notification traps.

Familiarity in IPMI or other OOB management protocols.

Working knowledge of CDU/PDU & Serial Console Managers.

Experience in deploying OS and applications on Super Micro hardware.

Experience with large-scale software and security deployments.

Advanced understanding of network troubleshooting tools such as portscan, tcpdump, ethereal, nessus, nmap, etc.

Solid understanding of advanced troubleshooting skills. (analytical thinking, problem definition, ability to eliminate variables and identify effective solutions)
